Registration underway for pair of photography workshops

The start of 2012 brings inspirational opportunities to photography enthusiasts, whether beginner or avid photographer, with the offering of two upcoming photography workshops by local Professional Photographer Jeannette Joy Hormuth. Registration is currently underway for the Exploring Camera Basics in Depth and the Learning to See Creatively workshops set to begin Feb. 1 in Fredericksburg.

The Exploring Camera Basics in Depth workshop offers participants a hands-on, informative and eye-opening time of exploration as they grow in their understanding and command over the technical aspects of photography.

The five-week "Exploring Camera Basics in Depth" workshop will be held Wednesdays at 1 pm to 2:30 pm, Feb. 1 through Feb. 29 at Hoffman Haus in Fredericksburg. The fee for the course is $98.

Participants of the Learning to See Creatively Workshop will explore how to take better pictures by expanding their photographic vision. Through demonstration of simple techniques and compositional tools, coupled with hands-on assignments and helpful critiques, participants will discover how to better "see" and therefore capture more interesting and creative images. Set for Wednesday evenings, 6:30 pm to 8 pm, this 8-week course runs Feb. 1 through March 28 (no class on March 14) and will be held at Heritage Place in Fredericksburg.

The fee for the course is $135.

While a director of photography workshops for the past 15 years, Jeannette Joy Hormuth has been engaged in fine art photography for well over 30 years. Working early in her career with Life Magazine photojournalist Leigh Wiener, her works have been published, exhibited and collected throughout the United States.
