Get fit, look good - it's an all-in-one deal at Strive Fitness

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

Vinny Mifsud and his wife, Tiffany Thongsri, invite the community to drop in at Strive Fitness at 8500 FM 1283 to check out their newly expanded facility. The couple plans a grand opening on Sunday Jan. 22 to show off their new hair salon and group class space.

The gym will offer a 5-day special for new customers to save $100 with a zero enrollment fee, said Mifsud. "We'll run the special from Jan. 12 through Jan. 17, so come by and sign up!"

Tiffany, a certified cosmetologist, is eager to serve her clientele in the spacious 800 square foot addition. "I'm very client-oriented," said the bubbly native of Bangkok, Thailand. "It's always about them."

Her family has been in the beauty business in Bangkok for years, so Tiffany has a lot of experience and knowledge about the latest international styles. She looks forward to offering cutting edge styles as well as the classics to the community.

The new classroom space will be available for Zumba-type classes, yoga and pilates, said Tiffany. A Zumba class specifically for seniors will begin this month.

"We'll also have free classes," explained Vinny. "We've installed a big flat-screen TV and have a collection of exercise videos that people can come in to use at no charge."

Strive Fitness offers a brightly lighted clean space filled with a wide variety of fitness equipment that includes Cybex and other well-known brands. A large number of treadmills and ellipticals eliminates any need to wait until your favorite machine is available. A wall full of free weights and dumb bells from 3 lbs. to 100 lbs. tempt both the serious weight lifter or the beginner.

Anyone wanting to get a jump on that New Year's resolution to lose a pound or two will certainly be able to find something that works for them. "Variety is good for exercise," said Tiffany. "It's fun and you can change your program to challenge yourself. You are more likely to continue with an exercise program if you have some variety."

A client can get a customized work-out plan from Vinny or Bryan Zoller, "the best trainer in Bandera County," said Tiffany. Zoller has years of experience and works with anyone from athletes to seniors. "I specialize in seniors and weight loss," Zoller added.

A certified massage therapist is available at the facility. Just call for an appointment.

For a January special, Strive Fitness will waive the enrollment fee for law enforcement officers and teachers.
The gym is open 24-hours a day, with surveillance cameras for the clients' security.

Certified fitness instructors are welcome to contact Strive Fitness about the opportunity to teach classes at the facility.
