Vienna Boys Choir kicks off Boerne Performing Arts series


of activity for the residents of Kendall County. Three world-class artists, each presenting one evening of exhilarating entertainment, will offer big performances in the small Hill Country town.

Previews of artist offerings in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin, will feature many of the same headliners who appear in the 2012 Inaugural Season of the Boerne Performing Arts. Both Bowfire and Vienna Boys Choir have been featured by PBS in their national broadcasts and have been viewed by millions. TAO has the same public recognition in their home country of Japan.

The Vienna Boys Choir will perform at the Champion High School Fine Arts Auditorium on Thursday, Feb. 9.

Founded by Emperor Maximilian I in 1498, the tradition of the Vienna Boys Choir is steeped in history.
Now, six centuries later, Hill Country residents will have the opportunity to hear one of the finest choirs in the world. This world-class organization appeals to all ages.
Children to grandparents alike will share in the joy of the innocence and artistic quality of these 10 to 14 year olds performing a crowd-pleasing repertoire.

Boerne Performing Arts Chairman Carol Schultz, who has a background in vocal music, recently noted, "This is a rare and special opportunity to hear the pure tones and harmonies of such well-trained musicians right here in our community. Attending this performance by a world-famous choir is a great way for families to bond and to have their children discover new music."

The Vienna Boys Choir will perform at the inaugural presentation of the Boerne Performing Arts' three-concert series on Thursday, Feb. 9. This performance in Boerne will be preceded by a private concert of the Vienna ensemble in San Antonio for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA). The Vienna Boys Choir is the featured artist for the TMEA convention, one of the largest assemblies of music educators in the United States.

Priority seating for the 2012 Inaugural Festival of the Performing Arts is available now for the three-concert package. Prices range from $75-$100-$120. Order forms can be downloaded at

Single Tickets for each event will go on sale Wednesday, Dec. 7, at these locations.

The Boerne Performing Arts 2012 Inaugural Festival of the Performing Arts will also feature TAO: The Art of the Drum on March 4 and Bowfire on March 8. All performances will be held at Champion HS Auditorium and will begin at 7:30 pm.
