Medina gardeners learn all about herbs & more

By Elinor Vandergiff

Members of the Rose Garden Club of Medina met at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 12, due to renovation on the Medina Community Center.

Karen Smith from the Plant Haus II in Kerrville presented a program on "Herbs and Organic Fertilizers and Pest Controls." She said that most herbs need full sun and only weekly watering. Herbs that are deer-resistant include rosemary and Mexican oregano.
Smith, who is a native of Kerrville, is a Texas Master Certified Nurseryman. The meeting ended with gifts and prizes of herb plants from The Plant Haus.
The next meeting of the Rose Garden Club will take place on Feb. 9 at the Medina Community Center.
