Administrators with Boerne Performing Arts and The Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation have announced an annual scholarship program to benefit local students who are pursuing careers in the fine arts.
Two graduating seniors will receive awards if $5,000 each. Eligible students must plan to attend college in the fall of 2016 and major in either the visual or the performing arts. Eligible students must also be a resident of or attending high school in Kendall, Bandera or Gillespie counties.
"The partnership between Boerne Performing Arts and Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation is indeed a special opportunity for our local students," said BPA President Carol Schultz. "Our organization's mission to educate through student outreach program is further enhanced by this scholarship program."
The Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation is fulfilling its mission of promoting and supporting arts in Boerne and the surrounding Hill Country through this generous donation. Boerne Performing Arts will be administering the scholarship program with the financial support of the Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation.
Boerne Performing Arts presently impacts approximately 3,000 students each year through their extensive FOR KIDS programs, which enables local students to attend a free in-school performance by professional visiting artists. Local students also have the opportunity to display their visual arts while performing arts students perform in the lobby for every Boerne Performing Arts event.
For consideration of either the Visual Arts or the Performing Arts Scholarship, students must be in their senior year of high school, 2015-2016; planning to pursue a degree in fine arts at a college, university or fine arts school. Students must be a resident of or attending high school in Kendall, Bandera, or Gillespie County.
The application will be a two-part process, with the application form due Feb. 26. An audition-jury will take place on March 5 to complete the application process.
