Habitat for Humanity topic at luncheon


Dewayne Bannister, interim executive director of Habitat for Humanity Kerr County, will speak at the luncheon meeting of the Hill Country Chapter of Texas Democratic Women, at 11:15 am, Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Ray and Joan Kroc Center, 201 Holdsworth Drive, in Kerrville.
Bannister will discuss about Habitat Kerr County's celebration of the 25th anniversary of its founding in 1989 and the completion of its 100th house this year.
Bannister spent 30 years as a fundraiser for colleges and universities, major cancer hospitals, and environmental nonprofits. After his retirement, he owned a small business and worked from 2007 to 2014 as a draftsman for local architects. Bannister has been associated with Habitat for Humanity Kerr County as a volunteer and board member since 2009. He is married to Darlene Bannister, registrar at Schreiner University.
Luncheon reservations should be made with Barbara Wise at 830-896-6023 or no later than Thursday, Jan. 29. The meeting is open to the public.
