For more than 12 years, David Church has starred on "Midwest Country," one of the most popular shows on the RFD-TV network - and his tribute to Hank Williams Sr. is the number one request the show receives. Now, Church will bring that tribute to the Hill Country with a concert at Kerrville's Cailloux Theater on Saturday, Jan. 24.
Church was born and raised in Lancaster, a small town on the outskirts of Columbus, Ohio. The youngest of 14, David grew up surrounded by country music and bluegrass. His father taught himself to play the five-string banjo and played at local barn dances and picnic. Church's biggest influence, his Uncle Stant, who played the lap steel guitar, encouraged his nephew to "never give up."
Today, Church is featured in numerous major country music magazines including Country Weekly, Country Music Report, Nashville, Music Guide, Dreamwest, Damn Good Tunes and Furious, among others. He performs throughout the world along with his talented wife, Terri Lisa Church, also a recording artist-songwriter, who sings lead and backup vocals.
Church attributes his success in the music business to the millions of "true country fans" that are tired of what they hear on the radio. "The success that I have had has come from the fans who so long for the traditional sound of country that they have heard in the past, but no longer find in mainstream country music," he said. "Those are the fans that have been forgotten."
Church, along with his full band and special guest, Terri Lisa, will present one performance only at 7:30 pm, Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Cailloux Theater, 910 Main Street, in Kerrville.
To ensure this concert is accessible to all country music fans in the Hill Country, ticket prices are a very reasonable $15 to $35. All seats are reserved, and advance tickets are available by calling 830-896-9393 or visiting www.CaillouxTheater.com. Tickets will also be available at the door.
This concert is present by Playhouse 2000, Inc., manager, on behalf of the City of Kerrville, of the Kathleen C. Cailloux City Center for the Performing Arts. For more information on Playhouse 2000, visit www.Playhouse2000.com.
