Baubles & Boots slated for Jan. 24

Contributed

The Bandera Independent School District Education Foundation's annual fundraiser, Baubles and Boots, is slated for Saturday, Jan. 24 at The Lodge at San Julian.
Funds raised from this annual event go principally toward grants to BISD teachers for innovative instruction in the classroom. 2005, the foundation has raised over $200,000 to support the students and teachers of Bandera ISD.
The BISD Education Foundation is a volunteer, nonprofit corporation which solicits, manages and disburses contributions to enrich and enhance educational opportunities for staff and students in Bandera ISD that fall outside the scope of the district's normal operating budget.
Baubles and Boots will feature hot hors d'oeuvres, beverages and live music, as well as silent and live auctions. The "bauble" for this year's raffle will be a silver and turquoise necklace and earring set provided by the American Indian Store in Bandera, valued at over $1,700. The Cowboy Store of Bandera along with the BISD Education Foundation will provide a $500 gift certificate to be raffled off to participants.
Some of the live auction items include an antique quilt, a two-night stay at the Valencia Hotel in San Antonio, a fire pit designed by the Bandera High School Ag Mechanics class and a double rocker accented with a cattle drive by Bandera Middle School art students.
Tickets for the event are $35 and are available from Foundation Directors or at the BISD Central Administration Office on Pecan Street. Dress for the event is cowboy formal.
