Hermann Sons honors Martin with Humanitarian Award

Bandera County Lodge Hermann Sons Lodge honored Dr. Risé Martin with its Humanitarian Award at a recent Christmas party held at the Lakehills Community Center. Martin has taken an active role in both her dental profession and her community.
Through the years, Martin's honors and awards have included the American Dental Association (ADA) Golden Apple Award for Leadership, the San Antonio District Dental Society Presidential Award, Texas Academy of General Dentistry-Dentist of Year Award and the Lucy Hobbs Taylor Award American Association of Woman Dentists.
Additionally, Martin has served as local chairman for the 2014 ADA Convention in San Antonio, as past president of the International College of Dentistry in Texas, as the San Antonio District Dental Society Leadership Committee chairman and as a delegate to the Texas Dental Association.
On Oct. 12, 23014, she organized the volunteers who participated at the Mission of Mercy Project held at the convention center in San Antonio. Many Lakehills' residents served as volunteers for the humanitarian project.
Martin's community activities have included annual participation in the Cajun Festival and with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County. As a member of the Lakehills United Methodist Church, she has served as a lay speaker, church secretary, Methodist Lay Minister, community coordinator for the Angel Food & Missions and a dentist with the Christian Association Mission.
"Dr. Martin's dedication to serving her fellow brothers and sisters in her community illustrates that she is a true fraternalist," said a spokesman for the Hermann Sons. "Bandera County Hermann Sons Lodge proudly recognizes Dr. Rise' Martin by awarding her our 2014 Humanitarian of the Year Award.
Special guests from the Grand Lodge were Grand Finance Committee Member Jack Larned and his wife Dianne.
