Guadalupana Josie Esquivel, bottom, wore her beautiful example of the traditional costume of a Los Matichines Aztec dancer for an adult Bible class at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She shared the history of the celebration. Local Guadalupanos gathered on Dec. 12 to celebrate the miraculous appearance of Mary to Juan Diego in Mexico in 1531. The day was marked by music, special devotions, a play, and a mariachi Mass.

Gloria Villela Muniz, top, wearing the special Aztec Warrior costume presented to her by her family, led the 46 Star Rosary in English and Spanish at the cerrito (little hill) in front of the church.
