Texas A&M launches Family Nurse Practitioner program

Administrators with the Texas A&M College of Nursing recently announced plans for a Family Nurse Practitioner graduate program to help fill the primary care shortage across the state and nation.
Like registered nurses, nurse practitioners perform thorough assessments, but also have the ability to diagnose patients, prescribe treatments and medications, and take charge of a patient's overall care.
Looking ahead, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates there will be about 37,100 new job openings in the field by 2022.
