Lakehills Library doings
The Lakehills Area Library's Summer Reading Program continues to go strong with sessions Wednesdays at 10:30 am for children 12 and under. During July the library will have another visit from Ranger Niki to teach about spiders with stories, crafting and fun information for the kids.
The library will also have a day centered on robots and gross science at the end of the month where the kids will be making some snot to take home with them.
The library's teen program had a wonderful time the last two weeks, first learning about evidence collection and detecting from Dana Turner and Officer Marti Watts of the Bandera County Sheriff's Department. They also had a day of survival where participants learned about how to survive in a disaster situation and had a visit with Mykel Hawke from the Travel Channel's Lost Survivor.
Next up for teens July 21, youth will be having an afternoon of crafting and engineering fun. Any time between 2 and 6 pm, teens are welcome to come in and play. There will be engineering challenges throughout the day with prizes for the winners, and a well stocked crafting area with some ideas or they can make whatever they can dream up. The event is free and the teens are free to arrive and leave whenever they choose between 2 and 6.
• This month's book club books are Life After Life by Kate Atkinson for the daytime group that meets on the last Tuesday of the month, July 29, at 1 pm and The Paris Architect by Charles Belfoure for the evening book club that meets on the last Monday of the month, July 28, at 6 pm. Everyone is free to join.
