July 4th celebration in LH Friday
The Lakehills American Legion Post 410 will host its annual Independence Day parade Friday, July 4. Line up is at 9:30 am, judging at 10 am, and the parade should start at 10:30. All are invited. Just decorate you car, truck, bike, horse, wagon, or whatever with red, white, and blue and show up at St. Victor's Catholic Chapel where the parade forms.
The parade heads down Park Road 37 to D&H Automotive and then turns around and heads back, at least most of the entries do.
After the parade the Legion will host their barbecue chicken dinner and an afternoon of music at the post home on 26th Street.
The Legion will also have a flag retirement ceremony July 4. The Legion decided to change the date from the usual Flag Day, which is June 14, so more people can see the process.
The Legion will properly destroy flags that are no longer flyable on this day.
People who have flags to dispose of can bring them to Legion that day or bring them to a Legion member ahead of time.
