Bandera Gun Club owner JM Clements came home with a pile of silver treasure from the 2014 National Armed Forces Skeet Association Championships held May 12-16. The event took place at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio.
"The camaraderie was just amazing at this shoot," said Clements. "Every shooter was so supportive of every other shooter, win or lose! It was great."
Clements won six medals which were specially designed commemorative silver pieces and an engraved Remington 1100 50th Anniversary Knife.
Clements finished well in Senior Doubles and Main Doubles, 20 gauge and 410 gauge, and earned High Over All in two events. He also won the Doubles Handicapped Champion title.
"We shot 100 or 200 targets for each event," said Clements.
There were 149 members shooting in this year's shoot. MSgt. Blaine Scott, USMC, provided the opening shot and a short motivational speech and information about the Wounded Warriors program.
The Armed Forces Skeet Association was established in 1976. It is a 501 C (19) nonprofit organization serving active, retired and honorably discharged military membership.
