HC Dems address early childhood education


The Hill Country Texas Democratic Women will sponsor a program on the importance of early education for all children during the meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Kroc Center, 201 Holdsworth Drive, in Kerrville. Keynote speakers from the Kerrville ISD include Dr. Jane Harris, director of the Head Start and Early Education Program and Chris Simone who is in charge of education, disabilities and enrollment. Registration and lunch will start at 11:15 am and the presentations at noon.
There will be a questions and answer period at the end of the presentation.
A graduate of Tivy High School, Harris received a BA from UT-Arlington and Syracuse University, a MA from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Doctorate of Arts from the University of Albany. She has been a special education teacher for seven years at the Ingram ISD and most recently appointed director of the Kerrville Early Childhood Programs.
Simone has had a 35-year career in the field of special education with the last 17 years in the Kerrville ISD Early Childhood Center. With two years of experience working for the University of Texas as a disability specialist, she traveled throughout Texas offering training and technical assistance to Head Start disability coordinators and their programs.
