Contributed

Love is in the air and the Comfort community invites travelers to a romantic getaway in the beautiful Texas Hill Country during the kick-off of the 2014 Texas Wine Lovers Trail on Friday, Feb. 7. The event spotlights the growth and quality of wineries in Comfort and the surrounding area - the heart of the Texas Hill Country Wine Region.
Singing Water Vineyards will host the opener, which includes the tasting of wines from their winery, as well as wines from Bending Branch Winery, Kerrville Hills Winery and Dry Comal Creek Winery, New Braunfels; Compass Rose Cellars, Mason; and Hye Meadow Winery, Hye. Held from 6 pm to 8 p.m., the wine tasting also includes live entertainment with food available for purchase from the CrepeNation Food Truck.
A scenic Hill Country vineyard and winery, Comfort's Singing Water is located just south of Comfort on the banks of Bruins Creek. The tasting room is a rebuilt 100-year-old Hill Country barn. In 2012, Singing Water wines won awards in several competitions, including the San Francisco International Wine Competition and the Lone Star Wine Competition.
A boutique winery, Bending Branch Winery is a sustainable-practices and organically-focused operation with 16 acres of wines, comprising 16 varietals.
During the three weekends of the Wine Lovers Trail, Bending Branch will offer a complimentary tasting at the Estate Tasting Room at the Winery and at Branch On High, their new wine bar in the Comfort Historic District. Live music will be featured on both Saturday and Sunday, 2 pm to 5 pm for all three weekends at the new location.
The Comfort area wineries are among a total of 37 Hill Country wineries included in the 17 days of the Wine Lovers Trail from Feb. 7 through Feb. 23. Tickets for the trail are $35 per person and $60 a couple. Individual tickets include one set of complimentary tastes at each winery and one box of chocolates from Cathy's Sweets. Couple tickets include two sets of complimentary tastes at each winery and one box of chocolates.
Tickets for the kick-off event in Comfort are $25 or $15 with a Wine Lover's Trail ticket, and include 10 tastes, a winery logo glass, light snacks and a casual, fun evening in the Hill Country. For information on the kick-off event and Wine Lovers Trail, visit www.texaswinetrail.com.
