Country legend kicks off TexMo Star Concert Series

Mel Tillis will perform the opening concert of the 2014 TexMo Star Concert Series, playing two shows with his band, The Statesiders, 3:30 pm and 7:30 pm, Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Cailloux Theater in Kerrville.
TexMo Entertainment plans to bring five shows featuring "Branson Style" entertainment to the Hill Country with Michael Martin Murphy returning on March 30.
A prolific singer, songwriter, movie star, and storyteller, Tillis was named Entertainer of the Year, inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and awarded the National Medal of Arts. He has credit for 36 Top Ten singles, including nine Number One hits, including "Good Woman Blues," "Coca Cola Cowboy" and "Southern Rain."
In addition, Tillis has written a countless string of hits for Webb Pierce, Ray Price, Brenda Lee, Bobby Bare, Wanda Jackson, Kenny Rogers, Waylon Jennings, Charley Pride, and Ricky Skaggs.
Tillis appeared in numerous television shows and feature films, including "Every Which Way But Loose" with Clint Eastwood, "Cannonball Run" and "Smokey and the Bandit II."
