ABKSNA welcomes volunteers

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

Volunteering opportunities abound at the Albert and Bessie Kronkosky State Natural Area (ABKSNA) on State Highway 46 in Bandera County. Amateurs are as welcome as professional botanists and zoologists to assist with plant and animal identification and head counts.
ABKSNA is almost ready to start counting the returning Golden-cheek warbler.
Participating in bird counts is just one of many ways volunteers can help get the county's newest state natural area ready for the public.
If you are handy with a chain saw and clippers, cedar choppers are also needed to clear the roadway and some trails.
Anyone interested in volunteering at ABKSNA should go to the Texas Parks and Wildlife website to sign up for service. All volunteers undergo a background check.
