Society offers advanced genealogy course

Registration is now open for the 2014 Seven-Week Genealogy Course, Researching Your Ancestors in Today's World, sponsored by the Genealogical Society of Kendall County. The course, written and taught by Genealogists Harry and Mary Alice Dell will start on Thursday, Feb. 27 and be held each Thursday evening through April 10 at the Boerne Civic Center.
"We don't conduct research today the way we did five, 10, or 15 years ago when we first started teaching," said Dell. "We have updated many aspects of the course to reflect those changes while retaining the important core information on research techniques."
Attendance at a GSKC-sponsored Introduction (or Beginner's) Genealogy Course is a prerequisite to taking this course. This class will be offered three times before the course starts: at the Comfort Heritage Center, Saturday morning Feb 8; and two times in Boerne: Wednesday evening, Feb 1 at Morningside Manor, Menger Springs and Thursday afternoon, Feb 20 at Kronkosky Place. The public is invited to attend this class whether or not they plan to take the full course. Call 830-537-5325 to register for the free class.
Cost of the course is $70 for non-members and $55 for members, with discounts for second family members attending. Registration forms are available at The Family History Place and online at the Society website www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txgskc.
