Sharon Treece, store manager of Bandera's Wells Fargo Bank, recently presented a check for $1,000 to Boys and Girls Club's Greg Parker, CPO, and Mike Pimpinella, Unit Director for the Teen Center. The check was for the club's Youth of the Year event set for Thursday, Jan. 16. This special event highlights the amazing things that youth are doing in Bandera County through the clubs.
"We will be highlighting one youth from our Hill Country Elementary location, one youth from our Alkek Elementary location and many of our youth from the Teen Center," said Parker. "Partnering with Kiwanis of Bandera County, we will name two elementary school recipients of the Kiwanis TERRIFIC Kid award! This pair will be recognized for displaying the following characteristics at the clubs - Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive and Capable, as defined by the Kiwanis International organization."
The winning recipient of the teenage Youth of the Year will receive a scholarship from the Boys & Girls Clubs for college, a plaque to recognize their efforts and will also continue on to the South Texas Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year Event/Competition.
The winner of that competition will compete in an overall state competition and could advance to the national level!
