Country Puppy owner Kristan Barrington offers the same loving care to your beloved pet that she provides for her own sweet Cowgirl.
Country Puppy dog grooming is conveniently located at 2046 Highway 16 N, next to Shady Oaks Community Church and offers boarding, too.
Country Puppy Dog Grooming's new owner Kristan Barrington is excited about sharing her expertise and experience with Bandera County's canine residents. She also has some great plans for expanding her services.
"I've only been here a couple of months, but I started grooming when I was a teenager," the cheerful blonde said. We won't say how many years that might be, but let's just mention she has had a couple of children since then.
Barrington started in the dog grooming business working for Suzie Barrington, now her mother-in-law, in Phoenix. "I trained with her and learned a lot. I also worked as a receptionist for a big grooming shop there," she said.
Barrington offers a full groom for those loved pets in her bright and very clean shop located at 2046 Highway 16 North. "That includes a bath, blowing out, brush, toenails, ear cleaning, cleaning the foot pads, and hair cut."
She also offers specialty clips for those cutie pie doggies. Unfortunately, Barrington doesn't do cats.
"I just won't do cats," she said with a laugh. "I had one that clamped onto me one time and three people couldn't get that cat to let loose. Ever since then I've had a fear of cats!"
Anyone in the dog grooming business has to have the experience needed to do a proper job on all kinds of dogs. "We also need patience," Barrington said. Most dogs that come in are great, but, like their humans, sometimes they're just cranky, she explained. She's always ready to expect the unexpected. That's when having a patient nature pays off.
Country Puppy is open from 8 am until she's done, Tuesday through Saturday. Barrington welcomes walk-ins, but she appreciates clients who call early for an appointment so that she can better plan her day.
There is plenty of room for her canine clients to feel comfortable in the grooming room, with convenient cages if behavior warrants it. She is working on rehabbing a room currently used for storage to be used when she has a "family of dogs" brought in.
She is excited about being able to offer her customers boarding at the facility. "This is a new service we are offering and believe it will be a real benefit for our customers," she said.
Country Puppy is a family affair. Daughter Paige, 15, helps out with the bathing and drying; and son Conner, 11, will be pitching in on the kennel maintenance. "It's a family business," she said. "Always has been." Indeed, several years ago, the business was owned by mother-in-law, Suzie.
Country Puppy will offer multi-dog pricing for boarding and prices for all services are competitive. She also encourages clients to take advantage of her Maintenance Program that allows the client to come in every two weeks for the same price as once a month.
If you want your beloved canine to look its best, give Country Puppy a try. You and your puppy will feel secure and well cared for!
