MLPS announces 2013 Buoy Awards Banquet
Members of the Medina Lake Preservation Society (MLPS) will hold the fifth annual Buoy Awards Banquet, beginning at 6 pm, Saturday, Nov. 16. The event will take place at the Leibold-Grothues Heritage Ranch at the Lake Medina RV Resort Clubhouse, 1218 Leibolds Point Road, in Lakehills. Everyone is asked to save the date.
During the dinner, the society will publicly acknowledge a select number of Lakeplex citizens who work diligently to preserve the community's positive characteristics through their unselfish gifts of time, resources, creative vision or leadership. These citizens will receive a "Buoy," a small memento that symbolizes the concept of what it takes to keep the community "afloat."
In the coming year, in addition to its ongoing projects of saving the historic Spettel House and creating a Medina Dam Workers Memorial, the MLPS will focus its efforts in providing educational information about the history of Medina Lake. "We will emphasize its prominience as a recharge source for the region and how to best to manage its valuable water for the future of our LakePlex communities," offered Carol Smith, MLPS executive director.
She urged everyone to join the celebration of "friends and neighbors who volunteer their time and energies to the benefit of our communities."
Tickets are $40 per person and will be available soon. Those interested in attending are urged to make reservations early as seating is limited. For reservations, call 210-400-0331, visit t www.medinalakepreservation.org or visit MLPS on Facebook.
