Cow Patty Bingo Tickets - get yours now!

Every Saturday from now until Labor Day, sure-to-sell-out Cow Patty Bingo tickets are available at a blue tent pitched in the parking lot of Lowe's Market on Main Street. Last year the event sold out and already phone calls are being fielded from folks living outside of Bandera who want to buy tickets!

Tickets for the fifth annual Cow Patty Bingo can also be purchased from any member of the Bandera Community Foundation Board of Directors or at Lowe's Market.

Tickets are also available at Bandera River City Hospice, co-sponsor of the event with Lowe's; and at the Bandera County Public Library.

The creative fundraising event - part of Celebrate Bandera, held during Labor Day weekend - raises money for local nonprofits through the Bandera Community Foundation. Tickets are $20 each, with the winner receiving $2,500, while $5,000 goes to a local nonprofit.

Past recipients were Boys and Girls Club of Bandera County for the new Lakehills location and the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic. This year's recipient will be the Bandera County Public Library Children's Section.

Cow Patty Bingo will take place Saturday, August 31, in the parking lot of event co-sponsor, Lowe's Market. Festivities will kick off at 9 am with breakfast tacos, music and door prizes. To be eligible for a door prize, a participant must show his numbered Cow Patty Bingo squares to event coordinators. Participants must be present to win door prizes; however, the winner of the grand prize does not need to be present to win.

Promptly at 10 am, a longhorn steer with a belly filled with hay will be released into the pen marked with a grid consisting of 500 numbers drawn out in two feet by two feet squares.

The holder of the number of the square where the longhorn decides to drop his first patty will win the $2,500 prize. There will be only one winner, and the decision of the judge is final.

The Bandera Library will also walk away as a big winner from the Cow Patty Bingo event. Library personnel and volunteers are currently working on developing the children's section of the library, which will include murals, new carpet and many new children's books.

Now in its 12th year, Celebrate Bandera serves as the main annual fundraising project for the Bandera Community Foundation. With events from Thursday through Sunday of Labor Day weekend, Celebrate Bandera attracts more than 20,000 people and is a rising star among Texas events.
