Garden club notes Earth Day

The Madrona Garden Club of Bandera will celebrate Earth Day this year on Thursday, May 2. Club members and the public are encouraged to attend this joyful event on the river at Bandera City Park under the first pavilion. Bring your own sack lunch, if you'd like. Ice cream will be provided by the club.

The second grade classes of Hill Country Elementary are to be the club's special guests and assist in planting two oleanders in the park. Providing a special treat, speaker-teacher Peggy Carnahan will present a hands-on project for the children to create their own seed balls.

Club president and Lakehills-UNM Wesley nurse Kathy Bates and singer Carol Pachecano will engage attendees in singing along to familiar tunes with their original Earth Day lyrics. Madrona Club member Mary Mosley will emcee the event.

Save the date and join the celebration from 11am to 12:30 pm. For more information, call Darlene Logan at 830-751-2409.
