Screens n Shades aims to keep Bandera cooler

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

Dann and Donna Bass, owners of Screens n Shades, have one goal: "to offer the best solution for stopping the summer heat and the expense that it normally brings."

They hosted a reception and ribbon cutting Tuesday, July 17, at the Bandera Community Foundation, Inc. offices next to Lowe's Super S Foods.

The Basses had installed their product on the windows of the office building, so attendees got a first-hand look at the screens and enjoyed their heat-cutting power.

Screens n Shades install custom fitted screens for windows, skylights, doors, porches, greenhouses, and pets. They also install roll-away shades.

"It's made a huge difference in the temperature of this building," a member of the Community Foundation said. "It doesn't get as hot, and the office is less expensive to cool."

The solar shades provide privacy from the outside while preserving the view from the interior.

The company has also installed their solar shade product at the Silver Sage Corral on Buck Creek Drive. Stop by either of those locations for a closer look and see how installing the solar screens will not just keep your house cooler, but will also improve the exterior appearance of the home.

Screens n Shades also offers the Clear View Retractable Screens, an almost invisible screen system designed to provide fresh air and an insect barrier for any swinging or sliding door opening. The retractable screens can be installed to operate either vertically or horizontally and come in 10 standard colors. Over 300 additional colors may be ordered at an additional price.

Another product that can offer a solution to glaring sun issues is Polar Shade's Exterior Roll Down Shades. These shades stop up to 98 percent of solar heat rays and provide up to 100 percent shade.

These shades are motorized and can be controlled with the touch of a button.

"We are proud to be dealers of both Clear View and Polar Shade products," said Dann.

For more information about Screens n Shades' products, visit their website at ScreensnShades.com or call them at 830-688-9854. Dann Bass will be happy to visit your business or residence and offer an estimate for installation of the screens of your choice.

Polar Shades, Inc. is a privately owned company operating out of Nevada since 1995. They manufacture their own products so customers can feel confident that they are "buying American." Clear View products are manufactured by an Illinois company.
