Small businesses in Bandera County can increase their chances of success by attending a variety of workshops and seminars scheduled for this month in San Antonio.
• SBDC hosting
workshop on business plans
The San Antonio Small Business Development Center will host a workshop on business plans on Thursday, July 26 from 6 pm until 9 pm.
Experienced instructors will teach the components of a business plan using an interactive format in a computer lab setting.
Participants will walk away from the workshop with the start of a business plan written specifically for their business, an electronic template and resources to guide them through the process.
It will be held at the UTSA Downtown Campus, 501 W. Cesar E. Chavez, Durango Building, Room 1.402.
The online registration fee is $40, at the door $60.

The San Antonio Small Business Development Center will host a workshop on business plan financials on Tuesday, July 31 from 9 am until noon.
The workshop provides detail on market research and the financial portion of the business plan. This session covers researching and analyzing the target market, developing financial projections and the loan process.
It will be held at the UTSA Downtown Campus, 501 W. Cesar E. Chavez, Durango Building, Room 1.402.

Excellence program
accepting apps
The UTSA Small Business Development Center is now accepting applications for the Building Business Excellence program, a unique business leadership program designed to propel established small to mid-size firms to new heights. The two-week program takes place daily, 7:30 am-1:30 pm, Sept. 17-28, at the UTSA Downtown Campus.
The deadline to sign up is August 31.
Owners or co-owners of an established business that has potential for high growth are eligible for the program.
Participants must be willing to share financial information that will remain confidential.

• Texas Economic
Development & Energy Summit set for August
The Texas Economic Development & Energy Summit will focus on the nexus between Texas' energy marketplace and jobs, local growth opportunities and the environment. Organizers believe that dialogue between political, business, academic and industry leaders will drive innovation and opportunity in response to the growing energy economy in South Texas and beyond.
The summit will be held August 24 at the San Antonio Marriot Rivercenter from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. A job fair will be open the event on Thursday, August 23 at the San Antonio Convention Center from 3:30 to 8:30 pm. A VIP cocktail reception will be held that evening from 5:30 to 7 pm. The break out sessions are scheduled for both days.
There will be break out session held on the subjects of Critical Infrastructure (Housing Transportation), Energy Demand (Natural Gas Vehicles, Power Generation), Industry Opportunities (Technology in the Field, Women in the Workforce), and Local Impact (Building the Workforce Pipeline, Business Opportunities).
General sessions will cover "What does the Eagle Ford mean to Texas?," "Shale booms in Texas: Economic development and local impacts," "Texas economic competitiveness and workforce," "Air and water: State and federal perspectives."
