Helping Hand introduces new website

Judith Pannebaker

Bandera County Helping Hand has a web site now. We have put all our information on it and included several pictures. Not only can a person learn all about us but we have made it easy to donate funds with just the click of a mouse, all at your leisure and in the privacy of your own home.

Come visit us at
www.banderacountyhelpinghand.com.

Helping Hand will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16 for Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday observance.

Director Jesse Parks reports that we need coats, jackets, sweaters and blankets. These cold fronts have created quite a demand.

Since we fed so many for the holidays we also have a need for more food, especially canned fruits, vegetables and meats; and other non-perishable items.

Assistant Director Laura has some much needed items on her list, including an electric grill or skillet, a trundle bed and a treadmill.

A woman who suffers from a chronic ailment cannot work. She needed food and we supplied her with some groceries.

An older woman, who has been a friend of Helping Hand, recently lost a family member and got behind on her electric bill. We helped her to keep her power on.

A single mom needed our help. She has five children. She has a job and the dad does pay child support. However, mom recently had to go into the hospital and she gets no pay while she is there and while she is recuperating. Since she gets food stamps she did not need groceries but she could not pay her electric bill.

We made sure she and the kids have heat.

A young couple with a child had to move and they had nothing of their own. Dad works but has a hard time keeping up. We provided some household items, linens, cooking utensils and food.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to Helping Hand or shop at our Thrift Store, come to 1116 12th Street in Bandera or mail to PO Box 1092, Bandera, Texas 78003.
