Something for Everyone

Amy Hawley

Looks like we're getting back in the routine here at the Silver Sage Corral where there is always something going on!

We have a couple of classes to discuss with you.

When Amy Hawley came onboard as our activity director, she said there would be some new things and fresh ideas in 2012. One is a Friday morning knitting class for those who want to learn the skill. The free class begins at 10 am and is taught by an experienced knitter.

Participants are asked to bring a pair of size 8 knitting needles and a skein of yarn. This is a great time of year to learn this art!

Since Christmas and New Years are behind us, now it's time to get back to a good exercise routine. And what better way than to the rhythm of the Latin beat?! We offer instructor-led Zumba classes from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, Monday and Wednesday, and from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, Tuesday and Thursday. Both young and "experienced" crowds are welcome to attend!

The Silver Sage has a new blog-page on the Internet and we can be found on Facebook as well! To keep informed about our upcoming events, go to www.silversageact.blogspot.com. Those not "technologically inclined" can come by the office or call 830-796-4969 for information. We aim to keep everyone informed and happy!

This afternoon, Thursday, Jan. 12, our 42 enthusiasts will show their skills at the 42 Tournament in the dining room! Playtime is right after lunch at 12:30 pm. Call the office to get your name on the competitors' list.

Let's have a big competition this month!

The Corral Thrift Store, located on Highway 16 in the strip mall, is clearing out all the Christmas decorations and goodies to make way for non-holiday items.

A good rule of thumb is, when you get a new item for your home or a new item of clothing, get rid of an older item to make room for it. Those Christmas goodies you received need a space now. Why not bring your replaced items to the Silver Sage Thrift Store for recycling? We will be so happy to get them, and we promise to find a good home for them.

We still desperately need volunteers to keep the thrift store open daily. If you're looking for an interesting and fun volunteer job, call 830-796-4969.

We're still excited about this month's Cowboy Capital Opry! It was fantastic as always, and the meal served before the show should be commended as well. This month's soup was delicious veggie chowder served with a great chicken salad sandwich!

It sure was tasty. Wonder what February's menu will bring?

On stage for the February Opry will be talented Christy Mims and that good-looking, smooth-singing John Wayne Schultz of America's Got Talent fame. Mark Tuesday, Feb. 7, on your calendar!

Breaking News: Plans are underway for Silver Sage Corral's Black and Red Ball, set for Saturday, Feb. 11. The dinner and dance will be held at The Farm Country Club and will feature The Almost Patsy Cline Band.

Tickets are $30 with a table for eight available for $220.

This is something else you want to be sure to put on your calendar!

We have lots of good stuff going on around here so come on in and check us out.
