Blessings for the New Year

Judith Pannebaker

Bandera County Helping Hand wishes all our readers a blessed New Year. May 2012 bring you all peace, good health and prosperity.

Helping Hand and Spirit of Christmas Presents appreciate all who helped to make our Christmas Festival so successful. Many thanks go to Mosaic Rentals, residents of Pioneer River Resort, the Outlaws of Bandera, the Border Patrolmen, all our sponsors, and the many individuals who volunteered so much time and effort.

Director Jesse Parks reports that we need coats, jackets, sweaters and blankets. These cold fronts have created quite a demand.

Since we fed so many for the holidays we also have a need for more food, especially canned fruits, vegetables and meats; and other non-perishable items.

An older couple who live on a fixed income recently had many medical bills and came up short on groceries.

We gave them food to get by.

A single mom has four children and no support. She has a job and gets food stamps but she cooks with propane and ran out. We bought some propane for her.

A young man is going into the military. He has no family here and had a bus ticket to see his folks before being deployed. We gave him cab fare to the bus station and a meal for his trip.

A man was injured and had to be off work until he recovers. He needed a place to stay and we provided a few days in a motel.

A single mom with a part-time job had her hours cut. She needed help with her electric bill. We made sure she has power.

A young woman with an infant has no income. She needed things for her baby and we gave her formula, diapers and several baby items.
