Twilight Zone marathon

Doug White

Before I get started on this week's story, I have some sad news to report.
My wife lost her brother, James Richard Collins, who passed away at 56 years on Saturday, Jan. 8. He was born in San Antonio, but lived most of his life in Austin. May he rest in peace.

While staying up to bring in the New Year, I noticed that the Syfy Channel was having a Twilight Zone marathon. They actually showed the very first episode which aired in 1959 and starred Earl Holliman. The title was "Where is Everyody?" Wow! Did that ever make me look back in time!
My grandfather and I watched that first Twilight Zone and many more episodes through the years. Even at 80-plus years, he loved watching the weekly Twilight Zone series.
I remember one time, he had to leave in the middle of the program to go to the rest room. He didn't want to miss one second of the suspense. After returning, he made a comment that I will never forget. He said, "Doug, someday during your lifetime, you'll be able to stop the program when you have to leave the room. And, upon your return, you'll be able to start it up again without missing a scene"
Well, he was sure right about that. Too bad he didn't live long enough to see it come about. He passed away at the age of 91!
By the way, one of my cats hit a milestone. This month, TP (Tiger Paws) turned 21 years old (about 100 in human years). Her fur is thinning out and she can't stand the cold weather so she stays inside on cold days. She's a great old cat.

I hope you enjoyed this week's story.
