Helping Hand Serves

Judith Pannebaker

There is something exhilarating about new beginnings. The possibilities seem endless as we consider the New Year ahead. This is that time of year when we consider our health, eating, exercise, our financial health, especially our spiritual health and make new plans and goals. “This year is going to be different” we say.
Helping Hand is no different. We begin the year with a new parenting class starting Tuesday, Jan. 17, one night a week for eight weeks, starting at 5:30 pm and including child care, dinner and a children’s book. Caregivers of children 0 to 3 years old are invited to register at Helping Hand or call us at 830-796-8300.
Prior to Christmas, we enjoyed giving away a lot of toys and food. We are also giving away a lot of electric heaters; so would welcome any heaters you may have stored away and not using.
A single woman whose husband abandoned her, their daughter and son-in-law, and five grandchildren came in, and we helped pay her electric bill and gave them some clothing.
A couple was in an auto accident, suffering severe head traumas. We gave them a gasoline voucher to get to their clinic appointments.
A single woman, sent to us by another agency, we gave clothing and help with her electric bill.
