Free information seminar

Vicki L. George

Bandera County Helping Hand is hosting an Information Gathering at our location on Wednesday, July 25 at 10 am. There will be three professionals who will answer your questions on Home Health Care, Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Medicaid for Long Term Care.

There is no charge. The public is invited and there will be light refreshments. For more information, contact Director Jesse Parks at Helping Hand.

Because of the generosity of our wonderful friends and neighbors we now have enough box fans for our needs. Many thanks to our gracious donors!

We have an urgent need for meat, in any form, be it canned, fresh or frozen. We also need shampoos, conditioners and deodorants.

We have a Facebook page now and you can "like" us at

www.facebook.com/BanderaCountyHelpingHand.

A single mom with two children recently lost her job. She gets food stamps but needed some help with her electric bill. We kept her power on.

An older couple needed some assistance getting their electric set up. We counseled them and helped them with the process.

A woman with one child fled an abusive situation. She has a job but needed some help with her water bill. We helped her keep the water flowing.

A woman has a child and is expecting another. She is on disability and needed help with food and gas to see her doctor. We gave her some groceries and a gas voucher for her transportation.

We are collecting school supplies now. The school supply lists are available on the Bandera school district website at

www.banderaisd.net.

On Laura's list we still have requests for electric skillets and A/C window units in good working condition.
