Highlights from SILVER SAGE CORRAL
Sure hope you had a super Fourth of July!
Silver Sage Corral had a great kick-off to the holiday with a fantastic Cowboy Capital Opry the night of Tuesday, July 3. Doors opened at 6 pm with a light meal of grilled chicken on a jalapeño cheese bun served with potato salad and ice-cold watermelon.
The meal, which included a drink, was only $5.The show began at 7 pm - and what a show it was! Guest artists were that great Cajun fiddler Wade Benson Landry and his lovely wife, Teresa Bowe Landry, from Branson, Missouri's God and Country Theatre.
They put on a fantastic show that equaled - or was better than, if that's possible - last year's show.
What a way to go into the Fourth of July!
A reminder that our "Needle Crafts Group" - previously called Knitting Class - meets at 10 am on Fridays.
This class features handcrafts such as crochet, embroidery, knitting, sewing, quilting - whatever you enjoy doing. It's always fun to create with a group and share stories and talents at the same time. There is no cost so come join us!
It's officially summertime now, and boy, is it ever hot, so to "beat the heat" come "chill" with us here at the Corral. We have TV and lots of games, such as cards, dominoes or board games. Get some friends together and play Scrabble, Monopoly, marbles or jacks - whatever you like.
Those who like quiet time are invited to bring a book or select something of our collection of hardbacks, paperbacks or magazines. Or just come sit and chat. Everyone is always welcome.
On Thursday, July 12, our next 42 Tournament begins at 12:30 pm, All 42 players are invited to participate, whether you've played the game with us or not. We have a lot of fun so come join us.
We are still looking for more mottos or slogans befitting a Sage T-shirt.
Deadline for this contest has been extended to Friday, July 6. Put on your thinking caps on and see what you can come up with to promote our activity center.
