The only native pecan grove remaining in Bandera County had another day in court Tuesday, March 20, when local attorney John Payne presented oral arguments before justices of the Fourth Court of Appeals in San Antonio. He attempted to secure a permanent stay of execution for two arbors in the grove.

Sightings of galvanized steel baskets on Bandera park land warrant an explanation. The city now has its own nine-hole disc golf course adjacent to the Medina River. This land, once the site of over a dozen homes, was inundated in the 1978 flood and later became city property. The location was ideal for the placement of a disc golf course with challenging hazards such as large oak trees, thick cedars and the Medina River.
